This week, students will examine British policy towards their American colonies in the last decades before the formal Declaration of Independence. Students will demonstrate their knowledge of British policy and colonial sentiment by creating colonial announcements of agitation and coercion.
Monday Dec. 3rd: Using the text and other supplemental sources, students identify British policy towards their maturing American colonies. Students will analyze colonial response and sentiment to the Townshend Acts, the Sugar Act and the Stamp Act.
HW: Define key terms (provided) of Ch. 5 Sec. 1 by using them in an original sentence that relates to the colonial independence movement.
Tuesday Dec. 4th: Students portray colonial rebellion in the road to independence by creating a poster with a partner that demonstrates their knowledge of colonial sentiment and rebellious activities. Sample projects are shown to the class and rubrics are distributed and explained. Students begin work.

Wednesday Dec. 5th: Warm-up - Smartboard matching activity involving vocabulary necessary for basic understanding of colonial independence movement. (ch. 5 sec.1) Work continues/finishes on colonial rebellion poster project. Students present poster vocabulary and logic to their peers.
Thursday: Student News: CNN Student News -- Students take web-style notes using Inspiration software. They print and hand-in with prior-week's current events.
