Greetings!
Congratulations Catherine Cloetta for winning the WY State Spelling Bee! We are all proud!
Periodical Projects were finalized last week. Many students came in for more time after school last week M-Th. Congrats! The projects are fantastic, a fine blend of historical fiction, research and meticulous layout design. Most of the projects exceeded our expectations in terms of design and content. Projects are now hanging in the 8th grade hallway, so please stop in and see them.
Q3 ends of Friday
Paws Testing M-Th next week. Students please come well-fed and rested!
This week: We examine Constitutional connections of the US Patent and Trademark Office while identifying successful and unsuccessful inventions of the 1800s. How did these inventions and new technologies drastically change life for Americans?
After looking at and reading several real 18th century invention proposals, students will begin "Operation Invent and Invest" where they will be asked to create a formal design (written description and display) of a useful and innovative technology. They submit a ficticious patent application to their peers, who can elect to invest in their projects. Students with the most investment money in each class will win gift certificates to local businessess.
