Welcome back from the weekend!
This week we will be finishing the drafting of Colonial Plays and performing them. Plays will be recorded for grading purposes. Also, in terms of content, we will be examining the causes of the American Revolution. See below for details.
Agenda:
Monday:
*Groups of 3 read and summarize excerpts from Ben Franklin's own Autobiography. Each group summarizes their section to the class.
*Groups finish the drafting of their Colonial Plays in class. This includes, dialog, narration, stage directions and cues.
HW Questions 8,9 from Franklin Reading in class, due tomorrow.
Tuesday:
* Join or Die We examine Franklin's use of political cartoons to bring together an emerging nation!
* Dress rehearsals: Groups get into costume to practice their plays and work out any issues ahead of performance.
Wednesday:
If all goes right, today is performance day for Colonial Plays for most groups! Performance and discussions to follow. Students self-evaluate their own effort and execution.
Thursday:
We begin to read Thomas Paine's infamous Common Sense with an eye for identifying causes of the revolution.
Homework, due Friday: Reading on the Sugar and Tax Acts that spurned a revolution (and many others around the globe). Students read and identify the principal causes of the revolution, using a provided organizer.
Friday:
British Colonial Taxation activity with Mr. Yazzolino's classes.
