Week of Nov, 10th

Announcements:
Thanks for all who participated in conferences Wednesday and Thursday! A conference or meeting can be scheduled at any time during the year, so if you didn't get to come in, e-mail or call to set up an appointment.

Agenda: This week, we will be learning about social history of the 13 colonies while drafting and rehearsing our plays. If possible, we will begin final presentations on Friday. Next week, we begin to look at events leading up to the American Revolution.

Monday:
Clicker Activity: Review of Goals and Expectations for Colonial Plays.
Read Aloud: Childhood in a typical Colonial Family - Ben Franklin's Youth
Students finish research, and draft dialog and narration in Colonial Plays.

Tuesday:
Smart-board warm-up game - 13 Colonies
Read Aloud: Colonial Laws and Punishments
Students continue to draft plays, working with a class checklist
HW - Study for 13 Colonies Quiz:) Use your map/charts created last week.

Wednesday:
Right Now Activity! - Students read in groups of 3 and complete a colonial time-line.
Quiz - 13 Colonies and the reasons they were founded.
Read Aloud: "Outrageous Women of Colonial America"
Groups continue to draft their plays: Groups conference individually with teacher.
Homework, due Thursday - Self-Assessment and paragraph of student participation in the drafting of the play.

Thursday:
Smart-board warm-up - Ben Franklin's numerous achievements!
Read Aloud: Franklin's Advice on Writing
Student groups finalize drafting plays, and create props needed to perform.

Friday:
Dress rehearsals for colonial dramas!! Bring in any props needed:) Thank you JH Playhouse for lending us costumes. Final plays will be video-taped for grading purposes.
