A Big Week for the History Books!

Announcements:

Student Council's Soles4Souls shoe drive will be ongoing until the end of January.

Grades close for Quarter 2 on Friday!

Congratulations to all who poured such great effort into their answers to the complex essay questions on the History Standard!! All test grades have been entered.

Monday: MLK Day
1. Questioning Activity with personal Whiteboards - Dr. King and Racial Equality Today

2. Read Aloud "Martin's Big Words"

3. I Have a Dream speech with Mr. Yazz' Class

Tuesday:

Inauguration Day! We watch the historic event live in 3rd period and taped in subsequent periods.

Read and discuss: Past inaugurations

The Constitution: Where does it mandate an inauguration proceeding?

Wednesday:
Presentation of Family Tree Projects! - Students share their research, stories and creative work with their peers. Together, we mark on a world map the cultural-ethnic origins of all 4 history classes.

Thursday and Friday:

Lewis and Clark/Louisiana Purchase WebQuest activity in the media center.
This is a United Streaming activity - Students identify and analyze the details of the expansion and subsequent exploration of the new nation.
