First Week of February

Announcements:

**Great job on Constitution Essays! Students are really developing their expository writing skills.
** Author Ken Thomasma visits on Friday to speak about the Lewis & Clark Expedition from the perspective of its 13 year-old guide, Sacajawea.

Monday:
1. Current Event - We watched a news brief on the Egyptian crisis and made connections to the US Constitution Unit. Open notes quiz on this info on Wednesday.
2. Intro to Westward Expansion Unit - Mountain Man Vernacular and Student Pre-Knowledge.
3. Students select debate topics for our second round of debates!
HW: Louisiana Purchase Geography Questions: Due Tues.

Tuesday:
1. HW: Check, Share, Discuss.
2. We are in the iMac lab doing a Lewis & Clark Webquest activity.

Wednesday
1. Complete Webquest in iMac lab
2. Current Event Quiz: Open Notes
3. Depending on student progress: Debate topic research and preparation

Thursday:
1. Students will see the next historical fiction assignment: Write a journal entry from the perspective of Sacajawea, York, Seaman the dog, or Captain Clark! They will be taking notes during tomorrow's presentation to use in preparation for this short historical fiction essay next week.
2. A look at some primary journal entries and sketches: These will be used as examples for student's own field observations next week.

Friday:
Author and Historian Ken Thomasma joins us to discuss his books regarding the Lewis & Clark Expedition!
