**This is the first week of the 4th academic quarter.
** Nice job JHMS 8th graders! You deserve quarterly recognition this Friday. Students will be going to the movies!
** 8th Grade National History Day students will be presenting their works in the media center on Monday, period 6 and 7. Parents are encouraged to attend!
** Quiz on Thursday: Issues and Compromises leading to the Civil War. Use Discovery Education notes to study.
Agenda:
Monday:
1. Students will be revisiting 3rd quarter goals and personal mission statements, assessing their progress and identifying new goals for the 4th quarter.
2. We will have a review game for issues and compromises leading to the Civil War: Teams will compete to win. (Quiz on this material on Thursday).
Tuesday:
We will be getting more in-depth with issues and compromises leading to the Civil War, examining primary resources such as newspaper articles, political cartoons and photographs from the time-period. Students will be comparing these historical documents to secondary, text book descriptions and evaluating each type of source for value.
Wednesday:
1. Matching review/practice: Issues and Compromises leading to the Civil War.
2. Finish Debate Research: Students developed debate statements from our Middle East current event activity and presentations. We will hold the debates tomorrow after the quiz.
Thursday:
1. Quiz: Issues and Compromises Leading to the Civil War.
2. Students use their research to debate current event topics related to US relations with the Middle East.
Friday:
Mr. Wells will be accompanying National History Day finalists to compete in the regional competition in Shoshoni. Mrs. Calabrese will be substitute. Quarterly Recognition! Students go to the movies.
