Agenda:
Monday:
1. Current Event: 9/11, Bin Laden's death and the future of the war on terror.
2. Finish battle group presentations.
(On Friday, we substituted finishing battle group presentations for a co-taught lesson with Ms. Rooks. All Civil War lit. circle groups met together and participated in vertical discussions about respective plots, character motivations and authors' purposes. Each class generated a rich discussions. We will be doing this lesson each Friday during Civil War lit. circles.)
Tuesday:
1. Lit. Circle groups meet for the first discussion day led by students, who come with prepared discussion roles.
2. Cold Mt. and Killer Angels groups will get 20 minutes of in-class reading time.
HW: Each novel has a reading assignment and new role sheets to be completed for next Tuesday, May 10th. Please pace yourself well!
Wednesday:
1. Students will be researching, analyzing and "photoshopping" Civil War daguerreotypes and photos related to their lit. circle novels. They will be using online National Archive and private collections. They will use the SIGHT analysis method.
Thursday:
1. Lit. Circle groups meet again to complete response to reading activities created especially for their book. These will be shared with other literature groups after the final week of reading (May 19th).
Friday:
1. All novel groups come together for vertical discussions in the "fishbowl" style, like last Friday.
