*MAPS testing begins this week for the 8th grade in LA and Math classes.
*Tryouts for the talent show happen this week during lunch in the choir room. Sign-ups are still open in the Student Center!

Agenda:
Monday:
1. We are in the PLTW Lab today, working on photoshopping Civil War daguerreotypes and photos. Students should finish their analysis of the photos and turn in today by the end of class.
HW: Lit. Circle reading and role sheets due tomorrow. Come prepared for role-driven discussion.
Tuesday:
Lit. Circle groups meet today. Role sheets and sticky-notes passages are due. Discussion is based on prepared roles. Unprepared students will not be able to participate.
HW: All groups finish their novels for May 7th.
Wednesday:
Students will be learning about the humanitarian perspective of the Civil War. This includes such topics as humanitarian acts of bystanders, prisoner of war camps, the "Lieber Code" (predecessor to the Geneva Convention) and the birth of the American Red Cross.
Thursday:
Today is activity day for lit circles. Students will be researching, writing and creating skits, political cartoons etc. Their work must demonstrate deep, critical thinking regarding the issues in their novels. Students will get new roll sheets today and prepare them for Tuesday, May 17th.
Friday
Fridays mean fishbowl discussions. These are vertical discussion by members of ALL lit. circle groups. Participation and preparedness are assessed as part of the weekly lit. circle grade.
