Week of January 14th


Please Note: The in class essay test is now on Wednesday.  Also, Friday is quarterly recognition at Snow King. Students will be getting info in team this week.

Monday:
1. Check and share outlines for Wednesday’s in class essay test. We’ll look at a high quality essay example and discuss what makes it advanced on the rubric.
2. We’ll need to look over the Declaration of Independence organizer that we began, and students finished for HW last week. We’ll focus on section 4 and the rights of Independent Nations.
3. Fun with maps! We’ll be playing some interactive geography games to learn the new states and features of the growing Nation.

Tuesday:
Professional Development for all History teachers at JHMS: Students will be with Mrs. Yeoman’s continuing with the sex ed. curriculum.

Wednesday:
In Class Essay test: Students may use their outlines, debate research and timeline notes.  Laptops are available and essays must be printed by the end of class.

Thursday:
1. Small group read – Women of the Revolution!
2. Map practice! We’ll have a small competition between groups
3. Video Clip and Discussion: The Story of Us – Drafting the Constitution

Friday:
1. Shortened Classes – We’ll be playing a quarter 2 review game in class.
2. Quarterly Recognition – Students leave directly from lunch and will need appropriate clothing. Options: Ski/board; Ice Climb; Tube; Skate; Hangout in the lodge.

Next week we begin our Constitution Unit!
