Monday:
1. Student
Resource Officer will be in today (he had to cancel Friday) to give his
perspective on the Constitution from a law enforcement perspective. This
question and answer is always a hit with students!
2. Students will
get essay response choices today for the Constitution standard assessment on
Thursday – Please select one for tomorrow’s class!
Tuesday:
1. Students will see an example of an outline and
start working on their own for the in class essay section of the Constitution
standard assessment on Thursday.
2. We’ll review
the 3 branches of government details and the amendment info today with a game
in which student groups compete.
HW: Students will
get a summary of information and details on our Thursday standard assessment.
There is a portion of this overview sheet that will need to be completed for
HW - Due tomorrow.
Wednesday:
1. Final Review Day: We’ll have several
review stations through which student pairs will rotate.
2. Debate research – We’ll continue debate
research of our constitutional debate topics: Affirmative Action (currently
being reviewed by the Supreme Court) and Gun Control. Students will need to research both sides of
each topic for our debate on Monday.
Thursday:
US Constitution Test:
This will include information from
the last 2 quizzes plus the Supreme Court information and case studies. There
is an in-class short essay portion to the test. Students can use an outline for
the essay portion. Essay choices were distributed on Mondy.
Friday:
1. Finish debate research (See Wed.)
2. In-class prep
debate for Monday’s debate against Mr. P’s classes. We’ll return to a more formal Lincoln Douglas
debate style. Students will look at the debate rubrics and expectations of the
JHHS debate team as a rough guide.
