Although a few students were able to print their final
newspaper projects last week, 95% of students will be doing that today in the
iMac lab. The writing, image use,
citation and layout look really great this year. Congratulations! Students – Please
share your writing and Photoshop images with your families!

Events Leading to
the Civil War:
Conflict
and Compromise: What led our Nation into the single greatest crisis in its
History? Students will be using
multi-media including media center non-fiction, video clips and a classroom
set of A Nation Torn to answer the
question above. Students will be
investigating examples of conflict like Bleeding Kansas and threats of
secession as well as instances of compromise, like the compromise of 1850 and
the Missouri Compromise.
|
Continuation from
Tuesday:
Students will be completing their small group work,
finishing the reading from A Nation
Torn, and drawing conclusions. We
will also look as a whole group at newspapers reaction to the election of
Lincoln.
|
Civil War Lit.
Circle Book Talk – Students will hear a synopsis of plot, style and
reading challenges on each of 10 titles and then will sign up for 1st
and 2nd choices. They will be reading these Civil War novels
throughout the coming weeks, so it is important to choose an appropriate
reading level and an appealing topic.
