Monday 2/11, guest Karen Rhinehart comes from the JH Historical Society for a slide show and question presentation.
Tuesday 2/12, Follow-up to the Historical Society presentation - Students update timelines, and are assessed on their knowledge of the presentation the day before. Class starts with a read aloud on Jedidiah Smith's encounter with a Grizzly Bear.
Teacher chooses pairs and students begin to read aloud "Teton Skiing, An Historical Perspective". ((John Colter, Mail Service, Resort Development). Students practice note-taking using Inspiration software after teacher demonstration and save to the shared drive.
Wednesday, 2/13, Students continue and finish "Teton Skiing, An Historical Perspective" mapping out the 5 sections using laptops and Inspiration software. Students will share their ideas of important details in a whole-class format. Also, students will turn in their final webbed notes along with a text version.
Thursday: The Mormon Trail and the transcontinental railroad, two important impacts on regional development.
Friday: Timeline Quiz: Important time periods in Westward Expansion. Then US History Standard #3 -- Old West Periodical is introduced. Students browse media/books and choose a theme for their periodicals.
