**Monday is Dr. King day - see agenda for learning activity details.
** Student Council Meets Monday, 18th sixth period in room 101. We will be starting a Haitian Recovery Fund via USAID and the Clinton/Bush effort.
** Thursday, January 21st 2:45-3:45: Guitar Club! Beginners and experienced rockers alike. Bring an axe or borrow one of our few extra guitars.
** School officer Tony Mathews visits hisory classes on Tuesday, the 19th to give us an enforcement (executive branch) perspective on the Bill of Rights.

Monday:
Dr. King's "Letters from Birmingham Jail" Classes read and paraphrase in their own words.
With an eye towards broad promises made in the Declaration and the Bill of Rights, classes watch and examine Dr. King's "I have a Dream Speech"
HW: Due Tues at the start of class. (tomorrow) Finish paraphrase of the selection from "Letters from Birmingham Jail".
Tuesday:
1. HW collected (see above)
2. We get a local enforcement perspective on the Bill of Rights from our own Officer Tony Mathews. This is a question answer session looking at several Supreme Court cases, enforcement issues and the Bill of Rights as it relates to students and the greater community.
Wednesday:
1. Current event quiz: Students use notes from last Friday's story on Haiti. Notes are for using!
2. Bill of Rights "foldables" project begins. These are due on Friday at the end of class!
Thursday:
Students identify and mimic the many steps to law-passage in the US Congress. Why do a relatively few number of proposed bills get signed into law? Students will re-create the process in class.
Friday:
1. Primary Image Analysis: Students use the SIGHT method to analyze political cartoon related to the Bill of Rights.
2. Supreme Court: Miranda v. Arizona as an example of Judicial Review.
