First week of February!

Announcements:

* The Student-Council Help for Haiti drive is continuing. There are collection jars at the front office and in the media center for cash donations. We are also now working in conjunction with Mrs. Rominger's art project "Building Tiny Houses" - students can buy pins and donations will go towards the Haitian recovery.

* There is a dance this Friday at the JHMS Commons from 7-9:30. Entry is $3.00 with all proceeds going towards the recovery effort in Haiti.

* We have a guest speaker this Thursday - local author, Ken Thomasma will be sharing his experience and knowledge of Sacajawea and the Corps of Discovery.

Quiz on Friday: Historical Fiction - Journal entry from the point of view of one of the L&C Corps members.

Monday:
1. Review of weekly goals.
2. Details and Primary Source Examination - The Louisiana Purchase
3. Begin Web-Quest - Louisiana Purchase and the Lewis and Clark Expedition

Tuesday:
1. Reading from the Journals of Lewis and Clark: Grizzly Encounters!
2. Finish Web Quest activity.

Wednesday: HW Due at the start of class - Field Obs. & Completed web quests (If not finished on Tues.)
1. Students present Field Observations using the document camera.
2. Species documented by the Corps of Discovery
3. Making sense of the Web Quest info.

Thursday:
1. Guest Speaker - Ken Thomasma speaks about his books and impending feature film about Sacajawea.
2. Q&A
3. Students get quiz writing options for tomorow.

Friday:
1. Historical Fiction short essay quiz.
2. Current Event: Student news and notes
