We are launching the Westward Expansion Periodical Project - A long-term project that combines research skills, historical fiction, and graphic-design skill. We will eventually be collaborating with Ms. Rominger, the Fine Arts teacher here.
Students will see examples of Advanced and Basic projects from the last few years, view the instructions and begin topic selection with Media Center resources.
Thursday:
Research begins in earnest - We will review strategies that worked and those that didn't in our first research projects this year. Students will be looking for details that will be useful in writing periodical-style historical fiction. Students will be using non-electronic sources today. Our Media Center has a wealth of non-fiction in the Westward Expansion theme.
Friday:
Presentation, then Q&A: We have a guest-speaker coming in from the Jackson Hole Historical Society to bring us a wealth of primary sources and images from our local JH and regional history.
