Announcements:
**The dance this Friday was a success! Thanks for coming and dancing up a storm!! It grossed over $900.00. The net proceeds will go to help the Yazzolino family, per a student council vote.
** Civil War literature circles begin this week. Students will have readings and role-sheets (used in discussion) due on Tuesdays for the next month. These are fantastic novels that really make learning about the Civil War fun and fascinating!
** Please sign up for the talent show this week in the student center - Tryouts will be the first week of May.
Agenda:
Monday:
1. Progress: Students check-up on missing assignments, and write down assignments for this week.
2. "The Soldiers" - Who were the nearly six million Union and Confederate Soldiers who lost their lives (mainly to disease) across the five Aprils of the Civil War?
Students are broken into 5 groups and assigned part of a reading, focusing on developing QAT questions. Their questions will be posted around the room for all to contemplate.
HW for Tuesday: Finish first Lit. Circle readings and role sheets. Come prepared for discussion on Tuesday.
Tuesday:
Students meet in Literature Circles with completed role sheets. Students will discuss the characters and themes that emerged in the 1st quarter of the books. The goal is to have student-driven discussion, so please come prepared!
Wednesday:
1. I Spy: Women Undercover. Espionage, Hoop Skirts and Petticoats! Students choose one of seven women spies who made big impacts on the course of the War. Students will jigsaw the information and create a clicker activity for the whole class.
HW for Thursday: Continue reading your Civil War Literature! Note: Some facilitators will ask students to prepare work for Thursday's Lit. Circles.
Thursday: Lit Circles will meet today! Students will be choosing and working on activities designed to complement their novels. These are works of art : poetry, fine art, music, written fiction that accompanies their novel.

Student Play! This is converted text from the best-selling novel "Team of Rivals" that depicts the inner-workings of Abraham Lincoln's cabinet and staff during the war. Students will choose roles and get dramatic!
