**Please remember to check power school online to check for missing assignments regularly! Many students need to complete the first current event of Quarter 4.

Monday, April 12:
1. History through artifacts! We begin our journey into our Nation's most turbulent period - The Civil War - by examining actual Civil War artifacts from an Ohio Infantry recruit. How was each one of these objects used by a young soldier? Who was this soldier, where was he and what became of him?
2. Review of key terms in issues leading to the Civil War online activity completed just before break. There will be a quiz on Wednesday on these terms! Students break into small groups and present their own explanations of the terms to the class.
HW DUE TUESDAY - Completed united streaming activity time-line and definitions "Issues Leading to the Civil War". This was started before Spring Break.
Tuesday, April 13th:
1. HW Collected
2. Small groups from Monday will locate and read archived 19th century newspaper articles which involve their assigned key terms (from Monday). Groups will make small visual presentations that involve their terms and the primary source articles. They will use these posters to teach their classmates about their terms. (Quiz on these terms in class tomorrow.)
Wednesday, April 14th:
1. Finish peer presentations from yesterday.
2. Quiz - Terms in context - Issues leading to the Civil War.
Thursday, April 15th:
1. Read in small groups: "The Soldiers" Students will compare their own 14 year-old lives with that of similar-aged soldiers in the Civil War. Groups are assigned sections, identify expository text structure for that section and create 4 QAT questions for other groups to answer.
2. Once groups have created questions for their specific section, groups read all other sections and answer the QAT questions created by their peers.
3. Whole-group discussion on the article at hand.
HW: Students read Mathew Brady article and answer questions about his groundbreaking Civil War photography.
Friday, April 16th:
HW Due beginning of class - Mathew Brady article questions completed.
1. Current Event! CNN Student News, guided notes and brief comprehension quiz.
2. Mathew Brady - Technology and bravery come together to document the first major war in History! Students use knowledge from article read for HW to search archived Brady photographs (National Archives online) and complete SIGHT primary documents analysis.
