Week of May 24th

Welcome Back!

Announcements:

** The date for US History's final essay test has been changed to Thursday, May 27th. This week, students will spend considerable time in class researching, gathering quotes, brainstorming and drafting essays to be completed in class on Thursday.

** HWs this week: For Tuesday - Completed Outline; For Wednesday - Completed Rough Draft

** Students, please check Power School to make sure you are not missing any assignments. The end of the academic quarter is approaching!


Monday:
On Friday, students received their final essay questions and assignment. We will be gathering quotes, brainstorming and outlining their final essays in class today. Please bring your Lit. Circle Novels - you will need to cite the novel in your essay.

HW Due Tuesday - Bring in a completed outline of the final 5 paragraph essay. Outline organizers will be provided.

Tuesday:
Students bring in outlines of the final essays and will be working on drafting their essays - supporting the thesis statements with helpful textual and primary source evidence. Works Cited may be completed using noodle-tools and must be done in MLA format.

HW Due Wednesday - Completed 5 paragraph essay with a separate works-cited and parenthetical citation.

Wednesday:
In class - Student "Color" groups will be peer-editing essays. Teacher edits will be happening today, after school at a special essay workshop, and tonight.

Thursday:
Classes go down to the PLTW Mac Lab to type a final draft, 5 paragraph essay that includes parenthetical citation and a separate works-cited.

Friday:
1. Civil War: Wrap-up and the start of reconstruction.
2. Return to National News - Current Event. Students will be using local and national news sources to identify and summarize hot topics in National or International (US) happenings.
