Welcome back 8th Grade Historians: Time is flying!!!
Announcements:
*Students please check powerschool for missing assignments. This is the last week for retakes and make-ups!
* The JHMS Talent Show will be on the morning of the 4th: 8:30-10:30 am in the JHMS auditorium. When we return, we will be following a late-arrival schedule.
* All participants and stage-hands are required to attend an after school rehearsal on June 3rd at JHHS. Please bring equipment to school on Thursday!! The rehearsal will run until 5:30 or 6:00 pm.
Agenda:
Tuesday: Students will be taking an historical skills test that measures their improvement at the start of the year in analyzing historical documents. The scores on this test are not included in students' grades! The test is part of a federal teacher-training grant for US History teachers in Western Wyoming. It's called the Greater Yellowstone American History Grant.
Wednesday:
Students will get an overview of the Women's Suffrage movement, including Wyoming's notable contributions, the Seneca Falls Conference and and the Susan B. Anthony Amendment (19th Amendment). Why did including 1/2 of US Citizenry in the process of self-government take so long in the United States?
Thursday
United States Geography Review: Many students have not seriously studied US Geography since 5th grade. Today is a refresher to ensure all students have this basic, critical knowledge.
Friday:
1. US Map Quiz
2. A look at the rise of the KKK during reconstruction and beyond. Challenges of reconstruction will be identified.
