Week of September 7th

Welcome back from Labor Day weekend!

There will be short written assessment on Friday, September 10th. Students will write 1-2 paragraphs using our current vocabulary explaining various archaeological theories of how and when the first Americans migrated to this continent.

Monday: No School

Tuesday:
1. Revisit weekly goals and classroom behavior norms.
2. Vocab review on whiteboards
3. Small group reading and discussion: North America during the Ice Age.

HW Due Tuesday: Complete the flow chart that goes with today's reading.

Wednesday:
1. HW Check and Share.
2. Students sign classroom norm charts to show their commitment.
3. Reading and Organizer: Competing theories based on archeological evidence: Cactus Hill, Clovis, Monte Verde and Blackhawk sites.

Thursday:
1. Model expository paragraph composition.
2. Students draft rough drafts of essay.
3. United Streaming video clip: Archeologists work to solve paleo-indian questions.
HW: Be prepared for Friday's assessment!

Friday:
1. Assessment: Students write 1-2 paragraphs using vocabulary describing various theories of how and when paleo-indians arrived in the Americas.

2. Intro to regional geography of North America.
