Announcements:
**Parent/Teacher Conferences this Tuesday and Wednesday. 3pm-4pm reserved for scheduled group conferences. 4pm-7pm, all other conferences. Students are encouraged to attend and participate! This year, conferences will be held in teacher classrooms and not in the commons or gyms.
**If you cannot make a conference date, we can meet anytime this year before or after school! Please e-mail or call the middle school.
** No school Friday.
Weekly Agenda:
We are building towards the goal of an analytical comparison of early Spanish and British colonization in North America.
Monday:
1. Quarterly Goal setting and reflection of 1st quarter successes and areas where improvement could be made. (We did not get to this last week).
2. Students final review of grades before reports go to HB teachers for conferences.
3. Binder Check! Organization of essential materials and recycling of that which is no longer needed.
4. Whole group review of Conquistadors and Jamestown notes before moving on.
HW Due tomorrow: Read/Respond "The Dawning of a New Age" #'s 1-10.
Tuesday:
1. Connecting to Prior Knowledge: Students brainstorm in small groups on the topic of Puritans, Pilgrims and the Mayflower.
2. Jigsaw vocab/note activity: This is similar to the Jamestown activity.
3. United Streaming Clips: Puritans and Religious Freedom.
Wednesday:
1. Compare/Contrast warm-up activity - Ven Diagram Spanish and British Colonization of North America.
2. Mythbusters: Plymouth Rock
3. Review activity for Vocab Quiz.
Thursday:
1. Vocab Quiz: Spanish Colonization, Jamestown and Plymouth Colonies.
2. Student Play! Anne Hutchinson: Puritan Protester.
