Greetings Historians!
Announcements:
This week begins PAWS testing. Students will be testing most days, but only for 2-3 periods a day. They will be attending classes outside of testing periods.
US History classes will be affected Monday-Wednesday.
Monday-Wed students will be taking the PAWS reading assessment in Homebases during periods 3 and 4. Monday and Wednesday, periods 5 and 7 will meet after PAWS testing. On Tuesday periods 3 and 4 will meet after PAWS testing.
Monday:
Periods 5&7 Meet on Monday: We will have two focuses:
1. Complete printing of Westward Expansion Newspapers (Some printer errors on Friday prevented students from printing final products). Students will be reciprocally reading each others' newspapers with an eye for Westward Expansion content.
2. Revolutions in the Middle East: This is a return from a hiatus of current events. We will be reading about and making connections between the protests and revolutions in Libya, Bahrain, Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Tuesday:
Periods 3&4 meet on Tuesday after PAWS testing. We will have two focuses:

Wednesday:
Periods 5&7 meet today after PAWS testing:
Only period 5 will have an academic class: During period 7, the entire 8th grade will participate in a dodgeball tournament to blow off some steam!
Period 5 will complete the current event activity begun on Monday. Then students will develop a new round of debate statements based on their new knowledge of the recent uprisings in the Middle East.
Thursday:
periods 3, 4, and 7 will complete the current event activity started on Mon/Tues. They will then develop a new round of debate statements based on their new knowledge of the recent uprisings in the Middle East. Period 5 will research and document pros and cons in anticipation of our debates.
Friday:
Periods 3,4 and 7 will begin debate research, documenting pros and cons in preparation for our debates.
Depending on progress, period 5 will begin our 3rd round of Lincoln- Douglas debates.
