Week of January 30th

Students did a fantastic job on last week’s 3 Branches of Government quiz! Grades are in Power School. We are moving forward with our study of the Constitution as a map of government and a foundation for personal protections. On Wednesday we’ll be debating with Mr. Poduska’s classes, focusing on Constitutional issues.

Monday:
1. Student groups will complete drafting and practicing Amendment skits and then perform them. Classmates will try and guess which of the 27 Amendment(s) are involved in the skit.
HW: Create a set of flash card for the Amendments in the Bill of Rights plus the 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments. We will use these in class periodically until our Amendment Quiz on Friday.

Tuesday:
1. HW Check and Share
2. We begin our review of Supreme Court cases important to teens. Student groups will read about one of 6 cornerstone cases and create a summary for other groups to use in a gallery walk note-taking format.
3. Final, whole-class review of debate details for tomorrow. Debate team may need to do additional research tonight.

Wednesday:
We will complete our debate competition against Mr. Poduska's classes with our second Constitutional Debate topic. Depending on which topic classes chose last week, the topic will either be related to the 2nd Amendment or the Electoral College.

Thursday:
1.We'll finish the gallery walk of the Supreme Court cases info, and play a review game that uses student notes.
2. Review game with Constitutional Amendments.
HW: Quiz Tomorrow - Use your flash cards and visual organizer to study. Amendments 1-10; plus the 14th, 15th and 19th.

Friday:
1. Amendment Quiz: Match descriptions/ scenarios with Constitutional Amendments.
2. Current Event Update: Progress in the Republican Party Primary.
