Spanish and British exploration and colonization: Continue with
independent readings within A Young
People’s History of the United States. We will need half of the class to finish
this reading. Students will be citing textual evidence to answering thematic
questions about colonization.

1. Organizing Historical Ideas: We will spend today organizing textual
evidence from three sources in preparation for our fishbowl discussion early
next week. Performance in this formal discussion will be assessed, so students will
want to be prepared with organized textual evidence.
