Columbus Day – No school for students.
1. Review week’s agenda and goals.

2. Historical Painting Analysis and read-aloud: Columbus’ landing and activities on Hispaniola.

3. Writing historical fiction storybooks.  Students will use their research, character sketch and plot summaries.  We’ll be in the Mac lab on faster desktops.

1. Revision and Editing: Students will be encouraged to self-edit using a conventions guide before working with a peer, or conferencing with the teacher.

2. Putting it together! Students will be working on layout and design of their storybook project.

HW This Week:  Prepare to do some of the storybook writing at home. You may need to e-mail your project to yourself, use a flash-drive, or simply do some writing in your composition notebook.
* Students should be finished with rough drafts and authors’ notes by the end of class today.  I will check these at the start of class tomorrow.

**Students should take home materials to finish this project over the weekend if needed.
I will be available before school and at lunch, but there will be no more class time devoted to this project.
