1. We’ll begin the Perspectives of the American
Revolution reading that we did not get to last week. Students will be
looking for arguments and counterarguments for each of three perspectives:
Patriots, Loyalists, and Neutralists.
We will be using this info immediately after break in a debate and
persuasive essay.
|
1. Complete and whole group review Perspectives
of the American Revolution.
2. Persuasive
Vocabulary – Students will be identifying emotional vocabulary from
today’s reading and explaining if and
how it may have helped the author convince or persuade his audience.
|
1. Thomas
Paine’s Common Sense was a revolutionary and widely- read persuasive
pamphlet. Students will begin to translate passages into their own, modern
language and will perform it as a poem or song tomorrow. We will be writing persuasive essays after
break, so we’ll focus on the elements of written propaganda.
|
1. Performance! Students will be
performing their poem or song from yesterday and we will examine if student
translations remain true to Thomas Paine’s original sentiment.
|
1. Women of the
Revolution! As in all American
wars, Women played a critical role in aiding, activism and even in battle.
We’ll be reading about several key players, including the Daughters of the
American Revolution.
